Chautauqua County Jamestown Airport to Host Collings Foundation “Wings of Freedom” WWII Aircraft Tour

JAMESTOWN, N.Y.: — Chautauqua County’s Jamestown Airport is pleased to announce that the Collings Foundation living history museum and educational foundation will deploy four WW II – era military aircraft to the Jamestown airport on Monday, August 12th thru Thursday, August 15th for static display, tours and excursion flights.
The public is invited to tour the aircraft on display on August 12 from noon to 5 p.m., August 13 and 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and August 15 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Jamestown Airport, located at 3163 Airport Dr. in Jamestown, N.Y. Ground tours of the aircraft are $15 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and WW II veterans are guests of honor. The Collings Foundation is an educational, not for profit organization and all tour proceeds are used to operate and maintain these rare, old warbirds.
For a fee, visitors will also have the opportunity to “take a flight into history” aboard the B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell, P-40 Warhawk or P-51 Mustang. Availability of select aircraft for ground viewing is subject to change based on weather and maintenance circumstances. Reservations for excursion flights can be booked on line. Flight training (no experience necessary) on the P-51 Mustang and P-40 Warhawk is also available to actually take the controls and fly these magnificent aircraft.
