COMBAT ADDICTION CHQ COMMUNITY EVENTS TO BE HELD ON OCT. 29 IN CELORON AND DUNKIRK
MAYVILLE, N.Y.: The Chautauqua Substance Abuse Response Partnership (CSARP) will be hosting Combat Addiction CHQ community events on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Celoron and Dunkirk, N.Y.
The event at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, 10 Dunham Ave. in Celoron will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the second event at the JCC North Training and Conference Center, 10785 Bennett Rd. in Dunkirk will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Both events will engage and educate the community about the activities and findings of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) grant. They also will feature guest speaker Robert MacKenzie.
MacKenzie is a 31-year veteran of law enforcement and currently serves as Chief of Police with the Kennebunk Police Department in Kennebunk, Maine. He began his law enforcement career in 1988 with Kennebunk PD, rose through the ranks, and was promoted to Chief of Police in 2008. MacKenzie is a graduate of the 243rd FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va., and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree through Husson University. He also is the producer of the “Point of No Return,” a 30-minute movie that illustrates the consequences of underage drinking. “Point of No Return” has screened in 34 states to numerous audiences. MacKenzie is a Past-President of the Kennebunk Rotary Club in which he has served for the past 11 years, Chair of the Rotary District 7780 Recovery Initiative, and a current board member of Milestone Recovery.
CSARP is a multi-agency partnership of prevention, treatment and recovery providers led by the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene. CSARP was established under a Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) grant awarded to the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene. The RCORP implementation grant is a $1 million multi-year initiative supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to address barriers to access in rural communities related to substance use disorder, including opioid use disorder.
CSARP is comprised of representatives from the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene, Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services, The Chautauqua Center, Prevention Works (formerly CASAC), Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County, Brooks-TLC Hospital System, UPMC Chautauqua, United Way of Southern Chautauqua County, Chautauqua County Health Network, The Resource Center, and Evergreen Health.
