Patterson Library Announces a Jam Packed February Calendar

Westfield, NY — 2/3/2020 — Feeling romantic? Are you a history buff? Looking for something different? Patterson Library can meet all of your needs and more! Come visit us this month for a calendar chock full of programs and events!

We’ve had many requests to offer basic computer skill classes, and we have heard you and will be doing so each Monday, beginning February 3rd from 2PM – 3PM in the Main Reference Room. Bring your own laptop, or use one of our desktops to learn or refresh yourself on different topics each week, please call the library to register. Tuesday the 4th will be an ever-popular card making class with Jamie Perry at 6PM in the Octagon Gallery, please call to register for this class, as room and supplies are limited, and at 7PM Bestsellers Book Group will meet to review “Lost & Wanted” by Nell Freudenberger. Thursday the 6th brings our special story time series: Winter Fun & Friends with Ms. Amy & Ms. Jamie at 5:15PM, an Artist’s Gallery Talk at 6PM, currently featuring the oil paintings of Judy Hodge, and Music Matters at 6:30PM. Please call to register for our special story time series. Friday the 7th brings us Twe’Evening for our 10 – 13 year old crowd at 5PM, Teen Night for our 13 – 18 year old friends at 7PM, and a 6PM concert in the Main Reading Room by area musician, Jacob Swanson.

February 11th we bring you Elder Care Law and Planning by the Alzheimer’s Association at 2PM (please call to register), and SUNY Fredonia Office of Admissions to talk about the Excelsior Scholarship and STEAM Program offerings as part of the library and YWCA’s grant funded program: Women Empowered through STEAM (please call to register). On the 12th, we will host Reiki Practitioners of all levels at 12PM in the Main Reading Room. On the 13th at 6PM, we will screen “The Help” as part of our Black History Month Film Series. On Friday the 14th at 11:30AM Homeschooling families are invited to Home Away from Home with Ms. Amy in the Children’s Area. In the evening, we will host a fun Anti-Valentine’s Day event, featuring different stations (card making, wine tasting, movie screening, board games, and music). We will have child care available through our wonderful WAVE Program student volunteers, supervised by library staff members, please call the front desk to register.

Monday the 17th the library will be closed in observance of President’s Day, but will reopen on Tuesday the 18th, when at 6PM we offer a screening of “The Color Purple”. The 19th brings Mystery Book Club, discussing “Death La Fenice” by Donna Leon at 6:30PM. On Thursday, the 20th we will screen “The Hate U Give” at 6PM. The 21st brings an Art Gallery Opening featuring the member works of the Photographic Society of Northwest Pennsylvania at 7PM.

On the 25th, we will host Better Baked Goods at 6PM as part of our Women Empowered through STEAM workshop series, and Blue Marble Discussion Group will be reviewing “An American Sickness” by Elizabeth Rosenthal at 6PM. On the 26th, we will host Culinary Creations tasting and discussing dishes from “The Side Dish Bible”, and then at 6PM PFLAG will hold its monthly meeting.

We continue to sell tickets for the quilt raffle at the library for $5.00 per ticket. Remember we have a limited stock of tickets available for purchase. Once the two-hundredth ticket is sold, we will pull the raffle winner. Check out the library or library webpage, or Facebook page to see the beautiful quilt!

Don’t forget our recurring monthly events: Makerspace Monday’s every Monday from 3:45PM – 4:45PM in the John W. Ellison Memorial Mobile Makerspace, Knit & Knatter Club meets every Tuesday at 1PM in the Main Reading Room, Storytime Fun every Friday at 9:30AM in Patterson Park, Games Galore the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month in Patterson Park Crafternoon the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month in Patterson Park, and, Write Now Writer’s Group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 1PM in the Main Reference Room.
