1891 Run Virtual 5K Medalists Announced

FREDONIA – Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings in place throughout New York State, the third annual 1891 Run for the Fredonia Opera House became a virtual 5K run/walk which allowed runners and walkers to participate over a two-week period, July 19-31.

Medals were awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall and to the top three male and female finishers in the masters age bracket (age 40 and older). Those earning medals and their times are:

Daria Jones (age 29, Fredonia), Second Overall Female, 25:48

Mariel Schlaefer (age 26, Fredonia), Third Overall Female, 28:48

Michael Formanowicz (age 55, Fredonia), Second Masters Male, 24:31

Funds raised from the event help support programming and general operations for the Opera House, something Opera House Executive Director Rick Davis notes will be “especially needed this year, with so many events cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation.”
